Inspiration for the first fundraising event — a Kentucky Derby party in 2009 — came when those closest to Ron felt they could harness the generosity of his spirit to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research. The day's contributions were donated to the National Pancreas Foundation in Ron's memory, and a tradition was born.
